The request for silence has been received and appears to have inspired a rather different activity. The artwork features an exhausted owl ringing a cracked bell. The owl's battered bell makes the rebellion look as tired as it is stubborn. A rude, theatrical choice for night people who appreciate a noisy cartoon joke and have never felt entirely comfortable with an early bedtime.
